What kind of clubs would you recommend to someone just starting to play golf? Something in a medium price range and super forgiving

Very hard question to answer, as golfclubs are very personal.

But: Should be as forgiving as possible and if it is your first clubset, dont buy anything exspensive because you will get new clubs soon as your game progress to the better..

Even though it is your first golf set, you should get the clubs personalized to fit your style.

I did that with my own set when I started (I'm still a 35 hcp'er) and it helped me tremendously with cleaner hits!

And yeah, very forgiving club heads is a must.

A main rule though when getting new golf-clubs is to buy the ones that you like.
Go visit your local golfclub and speak to the golf-pga-pro.. he will galdly help you selecting the best clubs for you..

Trust your pro at the club. And my experience is that at first you get some very forgiving clubs which are good for beginners. As Slice says dont't spend too much monety at first. But if you like the game, again, trust your pro. And my personal opinion is the same as what Memorie says. Try to get some personalized clubs. It will make the game more fun for you.
